Privacy Statement

The sole purpose of the Texas Suicide Prevention Council’s websites and social media accounts are to provide information and announcements on suicide prevention in Texas.

The information contained in our websites are for informational purposes only and not intended to provide you or others with medical, mental health care or legal advice.

The Texas Suicide Prevention Council (TxSPC) is committed to protecting your privacy and providing online solutions to access information, data and resources related to suicide prevention effectively and safely. This Privacy Statement applies to TxSPC websites and social media accounts and governs data collection and usage. By using the TxSPC website and social media accounts, you consent to the data practices described in this statement.

Collection of your Personal Information

In some instances, TxSPC collects personally identifiable information, such as your email address, name, home or work address or telephone number. TxSPC also collects anonymous demographic information, which is not unique to you, such as your ZIP code, age, gender.

There is also information about your computer hardware and software that is automatically collected by TxSPC. This information can include: your IP address, browser type, domain names, access times and referring website addresses. This information is used by TxSPC for the operation of our services, to maintain quality of these services, and to provide general statistics regarding use of the TxSPC sites and social media accounts

Be aware that if you directly disclose personally identifiable information or personally sensitive data through TxSPC current or future public message boards or social media accounts, this information may be collected and used by others. TxSPC does not have access to or have the ability to read any of your private online communications.

Please be advised that the Texas Suicide Prevention Council does not provide medical or legal advice, consulting, diagnosis or serve in any other purpose except as an information resource.  Be advised that all the Texas Suicide Prevention Council’s social media, websites, electronic newsletters and all other products, services and communications vehicles are not HIPAA complaint and confidential medical or legal information should not be transmitted. 

As a service, TxSPC provides access to external websites.  TxSPC suggests reviewing the privacy statements of Web sites you choose to visit or link to from our websites or social media accounts so that you know how those Web sites collect, use and share your information. TxSPC is not responsible for the privacy statements or other content on Web sites outside of the TxSPC websites.

Use of Personally Identifiable Information

TxSPC collects and uses your personal information to operate the TxSPC web site and deliver the services you have requested. TxSPC also uses your personally identifiable information to inform you of other products or services available from TxSPC and its affiliates. TxSPC may also contact you via surveys to conduct research and evaluations of our services or to gather your opinion about future services under consideration. 

TxSPC does not sell, rent or lease its customer lists to third parties. TxSPC may occasionally contact you on behalf of external partners about a particular offering that may be of interest to you. In those cases, your unique personally identifiable information (e-mail, name, address, telephone number) is not transferred to the third party. In addition, TxSPC 

may share data with trusted partners to help us perform statistical analysis, send you email or postal mail, provide customer support, or arrange for deliveries as you request to support our services and products you are using. All third parties are prohibited from using your personal information except to provide these services to TxSPC, and they are required to maintain the confidentiality of your information.

TxSPC does not collect, use or disclose sensitive personal information, such as race, sexual orientation, religious or political affiliations, disability or veteran status without your explicit consent.

TxSPC keeps track of the Web sites and pages our customers visit within TxSPC, in order to determine what TxSPC services are the most popular. This data is used to deliver customized content and advertising within TxSPC to customers whose behavior indicates that they are interested in a particular subject area.

TxSPC Web sites will disclose your personal information, without notice, only if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to the edicts of the law or comply with legal process served on TxSPC or the site; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of TxSPC; and, (c) act under emergency circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of TxSPC,, the public, or is potentially at risk of suicide.

TxSPC secures the personally identifiable information you provide on computer servers in a controlled, secure environment, protected from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. When personal information (such as a credit card number) is transmitted to other Web sites, it is protected through the use of encryption enabled service.

TxSPC will occasionally update this Statement of Privacy to reflect new compliance or technical requirements and/or company and customer feedback. TxSPC encourages you to periodically review this Statement for future updates.
